The governor does not believe that Skåne has reached the peak of infection; the advice can be labeled

Despite the rapid rise in infection on Tuesday, Governor Anneli Hulthén does not believe Skåne saw the peak of the infection.
– The strict general guidelines for Skåne will last one more week. At the latest, we’ll see if the Public Health Agency extends the advice. They can also tag them, says the governor of HD and Sydsvenskan.

Until 8pm on Monday night, Skåne Governor Anneli Hulthén participated in a digital crown meeting with, among others, the Skåne Region, Helsingborg, Malmö, Lund, Kristianstad and Simrishamn. Among what was discussed was the possibility of extended sampling.

– For me, covid-19 probably occupies 85 percent of my work time, says Anneli Hulthén.

Tuesday morning Simultaneously with other Scanians, he was informed that the infection in Scania had increased by more than ten percent in one day.

– The idea is that there has been a spectacular increase since week 43, the week before the fall holidays. It was then that we at the county administrative board began to prepare our decision not to raise the hearing limit in Skåne. At the time, no one was prepared for stricter general advice, says Annelie Hulthén.

How worried are you?

– I am particularly concerned about healthcare in Skåne, with an increasing number of patients. The more people with COVID-19 are in the hospital, the fewer planned surgeries can be performed. It greatly increases the pressure on our healthcare.

The governor, like many others, was happy in the spring when Skåne had a low spread of the infection.

– It was a great initiative this spring when people applauded the medical staff from their balconies. But the best way to encourage attention now is to try not to live as usual.

Were the people of Skåne better this spring?

– Yes, something must be due to the fact that we had such a low spread of infection at the time. Then we may not go out as we usually do.

– The only message we need now is not to be crowded and above all not to be crowded inside. Remember to keep your distance and wash your hands.

How do you see the infection increasing now despite the strictest advice in Skåne for two weeks?

– It takes a while before our citizens understand that it is a more acute situation. You cannot judge a set of rules after two weeks.

Don’t you think Skåne has reached the peak of the infection?

– No, sadly I don’t think we’ve reached the top yet. The strict general guidelines for Skåne will last for another week. At the latest, we’ll see if the Public Health Agency extends the advice. They can also tag them.

Anneli Hulthén states that there are three possible points that are not yet included in Skåne’s general advice:

• Refrain from unnecessary travel in and out of the region, something Västerbotten introduced on Tuesday, for example.

• Refrain from visiting people in risk groups or people who live in special forms of housing for the elderly.

• Refrain from visiting restaurants such as bars, restaurants, and cafes.

Isn’t it just any Christmas in Skåne?

– It’s going to be another Christmas. And maybe another Easter too. I don’t think this is like a magic wand. We should probably think that this will take a long time.
