It is uncertain whether an agreement between two of the parties is valid, if the third is out. Labor Minister Eva Nordmark says it now takes time and “a good night’s sleep” to analyze what the messages mean.

– I note that both the Confederation of Swedish Companies and PTK say they need time to analyze this new situation, and I respect that very much. It is clear that it is important for us to have broad roots among the social partners, he says.

– It is a difficult situation and I will invite the parties to continue talking.

On the government side, there is also the opportunity to push forward with the latest research proposals, which has been described by many unions and experts as very generous by employers. On October 21, the government will receive responses from the 57 consultation bodies that will provide opinions on the content of the investigation.

At the same time, there is a predominant threat of a government crisis, as the Left Party has said it is ready to topple the government if the investigation proposal is presented, a threat Nordmark calls “irresponsible.”

– I do not intend to take a position on Sjöstedt’s political game – he has threatened to distrust. Sweden is in dire straits, amid a pandemic and a crisis in the labor market, says Eva Nordmark.
