Daniel Nyqvist talked about killing as early as nine

The police were contacted five years ago by Daniel Nyqvist.
A childhood friend thought it was like the image of the police ghost and wore a similar hat.
In a police questioning, the friend testified about Nyqvist’s fascination with violence and knives, and that as early as nine years old he was talking about killing.
-It’s a terribly sad story, says Aftonbladet’s friend.
Police received a tip about Daniel Nyqvist in mid-January this year. The tip came from a childhood friend who knew Nyqvist very well when they were in elementary and middle school.
The childhood friend thought Nyqvist was like the person in the police ghost image. He also recalled that Nyqvist had a similar hat that the perpetrator had left behind and that the media had published a photo.

“I lacked empathy”
The image that the man has of Nyqvist as a child is twofold. On the one hand, he was friendly and on the side of the person who was bullied. On the other hand, he had a special relationship with violence and lacked empathy.
In a police questioning, the childhood friend says Nyqvist was allowed to watch a violent movie when he was six years old. Nyqvist also had a fascination for knives and is said to have had several around the house.

Feeling sick
The man recalls that Nyqvist once expressed “wondering what it would be like to kill someone.” Both were then nine or ten years old, but even today the friend remembers that it seemed strange to him, and even felt bad about the incident.
When Aftonbladet reaches out to his childhood friend, he wants to temper Nyqvist’s interest in violence.
– It wasn’t extreme. Many boys that age find knives exciting. In the circle of acquaintances we react more to the fact that he saw more violent films than others. On the other hand, you can do it without becoming a murderer, he says.
I drank during the day
It says Nyqvist retired in his teens. In high school, she began to “drink a lot.” But instead of going out and meeting girls, like his childhood friend, he would sit at home in his boy’s room.
The last time she saw him was around 2002 when they both took the student away.
– It was so bad there then. My friend I dated when I was little was no longer there. He drank heavily and was often drunk. The few times we went to his house and greeted him, he was almost always attracted, even in the middle of the day.
What had happened in his life?
– I do not know.
How do you feel today?
– I’m sorry more than anything. I remember him as very kind. A person who stood up for others. At the same time, I am relieved that the killer was captured.
I tried to contact the police several times.
During questioning, the childhood friend says that he has tried several times to contact the police to give clues about Nyqvist.
On one occasion, five years ago, he is said to have asked to be linked directly to the investigator who was in charge of the murder investigation. According to questioning, he was also called up.
– That is not true. I was never allowed to speak to the police. I also don’t know if he would have played any role in the investigation, the man tells Aftonbladet.
