Måns Ulvestam and Karl Rosander have their latest shares in the podcast company Acast. Now they will invest it all in their new joint venture Sesamy, a new platform for e-books and audiobooks.
Acasts two founders Karl Rosander and Måns Ulvestam start a new company together with their old colleague Markus Ahlstrand.
His business concept for Sesamy is to offer e-books and audiobooks to consumers at a one-time cost, so that the customer does not have to subscribe to subscriptions like Storytel, the market leader.
The titles of 287 publishers are said to be on Sesami’s platform from the start, of which books by leading Swedish players such as Bonnier, Norstedts and Natur & Kultur.
The idea is, over time, to also release news, TV series and movies at a single cost.
To finance Sesamy, Karl Rosander and Måns Ulvestam have chosen to sell all their shares in Acast, underwriting Breakit and Svenska Dagbladet, which they founded in 2013 but have long since ceased operations.
However, this is not a major divestment from Acast, which is valued at roughly SEK 2.5 billion in gray stock exchange trading. The founders have gradually sold most of their shares further back in time, about a year ago, together they owned only about 1.5 percent of the company according to information from Di Digital.
