– The plan is to vaccinate the first Swedes on December 27, said Social Affairs Minister Lena Hallengren (s) during a press conference on Tuesday.
For Sweden, initially around 9,750 doses will be distributed among the regions. The first and subsequent vaccines will be carried out in nursing homes in Sweden.

The three largest regions, Region Stockholm, Västra Götalandsregionen and Region Skåne, each receive 425 of the first nearly 10,000 doses, while other regions receive 200 doses each.

With respect to the deliveries that follow, the distribution will be made more based on the population, although the number of people over 70 years old in a region is also taken into account.
– A region with a larger population receives a little more dose, while a region with a younger population receives a little less. But basically depending on the number of inhabitants of each region, said Marie Morell.
The common goal of the Government and SKR is that all adults and all children belonging to a risk group are offered vaccination against covid-19 during the first half of 2021.
Lena Hallengren emphasized the importance of providing information about vaccination to residents of Sweden. The Government has given the Swedish Public Health Agency, the Medical Products Agency, the Swedish Civil Protection and Emergency Planning Agency and the National Board of Health and Welfare a special mission to carry out public information initiatives on the vaccination against covid-19.
