– The vaccine will arrive in Sweden during the day, says Anna Wetterqvist, press contact at the Swedish Public Health Agency, which is responsible for Swedish vaccine deliveries.

When TT around 07:30 asks if the vaccine has reached Sweden, the authority is silent regarding the secrecy of emergency preparedness.

– We cannot answer that yet, we will provide more information during the day.

What will happen during the day?

– As soon as the vaccine is in Sweden, they will go out to the regions, that’s all you can say right now.

80,000 doses a week

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) gave the green light to the Pfizers / Biontech vaccine on Monday. And today Sweden receives 9,750 doses of the vaccine in a first delivery and in some regions vaccination begins already on Sunday. Thereafter, deliveries of the order of 80,000 doses per week to Sweden await.

The first doses in Sweden should be offered to people living in special homes for the elderly or people who have home care. It will also offer to strengthen domestic contacts with these people, as well as with the staff.

The availability of vaccines then determines how quickly they can be offered to more people. The goal is to be able to offer vaccines to the entire adult population in Sweden during the first half of 2021.
