The fire alarm went off at 3:20 AM when callers discovered smoke was forming in the room. The building is a part-time station and was unmanned when the fire broke out.

At 10 o’clock the fire had not been extinguished. The rescue service has dug a passage between the station car park and the office to prevent the flames from spreading.

– The fire is still moving in the building. But it is independent, so we do not assess that there is a risk of further spread, says Gustaf Sandell, internal commander of the South Rescue Service.

No injuries It has been reported, but the station parking lot will catch fire, according to the rescue service.

– The parking lot is completely damaged. All the vehicles have been removed except for one fire truck, which has been destroyed, says Gustaf Sandell.

The extinction work will likely continue throughout the day, he says. At present, the cause of the fire is unknown.

– Certainly, there are a lot of potential causes. There is a lot of technology and equipment being loaded into the building. But it’s too early to speculate, he says.

An investigation of the fire will be conducted when extinguishing work is completed.

About thirty lifeguards About fifteen units work on site. Several of them have the station as a workplace.

– We try to fix all the station staff part-time. Of course, this affects them mentally. We try to organize distress calls for the personnel directly affected, says Gustaf Sandell.

The rescue service is also working to find a temporary location after the fire.

– There is a large amount of equipment you can use. The big challenge is where to find it. Then some technology is destroyed. But we will sort out the preparation in the future and work to find a solution, says Gustaf Sandell.
