Hanna Wänerskog, 20, from Vänersborg, was in Hawaii to study the Bible at the “Surfing the Nations” school when the tragedy occurred in early February.

Hanna and the other students were on the beach after school hours when a big wave came and took Hanna and some other young people with her. The others may return to shore, but Hanna has since left.

For several days, a major search for the Swede was carried out, before the Coast Guard was forced to discover that it had not been found.

A few days later, a memorial ceremony was held for Hanna Wänerskog in Vänersborg and now, when it has been three months since her daughter disappeared, her father Marcus Wänerskog tells on Facebook about the support the family received.

I can’t explain that Hanna is dead

You have agreed to cite the publication.

“We still receive a lot of support, talks and flowers, many thanks to all of you who still feel so safe about us and our situation”Marcus Wänerskog writes on Facebook.

At the same time, he talks about the message that the family received in the days: they should not declare Hanna, by the Swedish Tax Agency.

“Today the sun is shining and it was a good day, until the letter appeared in the mailbox. You become more bloated. Surprised. Surprised. Take nothing “, Marcus Wänerskog writes on Facebook.

The explanation of the Swedish Tax Agency

In its decision, the Swedish Tax Agency explains that in certain cases, such as in the case of a natural disaster, people can be pronounced dead near the disappearance event, even if the body was not found. But Hanna’s disappearance, according to the Swedish Tax Agency, is not considered a type of natural disaster and therefore it must be at least a year before she can be declared dead.

In the publication, the father wonders how the family should act.

“We really don’t know how to deal with the situation. Does it matter if Hanna in the authority system is “not dead”?Marcus Wänerskog writes in the Facebook post, in which he also explains:

“We try to start again in our daily lives, even though some days and nights are worse.”
