The women’s handball team can breathe a sigh of relief.
It will be a European Championship in Denmark.
– I got a damn adrenaline when I received the message, says Tomas Axnér.
The strict quarantine rules made a split agreement with Norway impossible and when the mink mutations of the corona virus caused fear in Denmark (and the rest of Europe), the European Women’s Handball Championship was really bad.
But now the Danish Handball Association has managed to convince the government and the Danish equivalent of the Public Health Agency that their protocol will suffice for a contagious event.
– To all those who worked hard to launch the European Handball Championship and to all those who like to follow it: Now is the green light for the entire European Handball Championship to be held on Danish soil, says the Minister of Culture Danish Joy Mogensen.
“I felt in my whole body”
At home in Lund, the captain of the national team, Tomas Axnér, was packing his bags for the reloading of the European Championship that starts tomorrow in Trollhättan when the news came.
– I got a damn adrenaline rush when I got the message. It was felt throughout the body. I am very loaded before the European Championship and I have always been mentally determined to get rid of it. It will be nice to go to the collection tomorrow and not feel any uncertainty, says Axnér and pays tribute to the Danes.
– I am happy and proud that the Danish Handball Association has managed to solve this because it has not been easy for fanimej. Well done to them.

Norway and France are favorites
But is it worth playing the European Championship in these conditions, without an audience and where you live completely in your own bubble and so on?
– I have not allowed myself to think and think so much about it, although I may have opinions. My job is to coach the Swedish team and do my best. When it comes to the restrictions that exist both during loading and during the European Championship, I feel completely safe with them.
The European Championships will be decided between December 3 and 20.
What is your favorite for gold?
– Considering that Russia has received some injuries, they have slipped to Norway and France with Russia as a medalist.
