The labor market is in a serious position.
A total of 56,133 people have been notified since early March.
– Continuing development, we can peak during the summer with around 10 percent registered unemployed, says Annika Sundén of the Swedish Employment Agency.

During the past week, from April 6 to 12, 6,600 people have been notified of the dismissal.

During the period from March 1 to April 12, the Employment Service registered a total of 56 133 people who notified the dismissal. That is what the authority writes in a press release.

– Although the number of notifications in the last week is less than in previous weeks, the number is almost double that of April last year, says Annika Sundén, Head of Analysis at the Employment Service.

The week in which most notifications were registered was between March 23 and 29, when the number of people affected by the notification amounted to 18,433.

More than 82,000 unemployed

At the same time, unemployment is also increasing.

Between March 1 and April 12, 82,255 people registered as unemployed in the Employment Service. This is double that of the same period last year.

“The situation in the labor market is serious and if we continue to develop, we can reach a peak during the summer with around 10 percent of registered unemployed,” says Annika Sundén, head of analysis at the Employment Service.

The industry is increasingly affected.

Those most affected by the notification, as in previous weeks, are hotel and restaurant employees, staff and businesses.

But the effects are spreading and the industry has had a bigger share over the past week, writes the Employment Service.
