The news about the numerous vaccines may have made many people think that the corona pandemic is beginning to suffer towards the end.
But now he’s hitting the government’s crisis coordinator.
– You need to be prepared both physically and mentally to handle the pandemic throughout 2021, Elisabeth Backteman tells DN.
More than 6,500 people with covid-19 have died in Sweden and more than 240,000 have been infected with the virus since the start of the pandemic. But many more people have been affected by the virus. Many have not been able to reunite with their friends, family and colleagues since last spring, and many Swedes have lost a family member during the pandemic.
For many, the light in the tunnel may have the corona vaccine that was developed at record speed and showed test results that have far exceeded expectations.
But authorities have been told for some time that the vaccine is not the end of the pandemic. This is something that, among others, the director general of the Swedish Public Health Agency, Johan Carlson, the state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell and Prime Minister Stefan Löfven have previously said.

“Pandemic throughout 2021”
That message is now being repeated by the government’s crisis coordinator, Elisabeth Backteman.
– The pandemic will not go away just because we receive a vaccine. “We take height to continue working with different types of different measures,” says the crisis coordinator of the Government Offices, Elisabeth Backteman, to Dagens Nyheter.
She says we must prepare to live with the pandemic for the next year.
– I think it is reasonable, since Johan Carlson and the prime minister said that it is necessary to have physical and mental preparation to handle the pandemic throughout 2021 at all levels of society, he tells the newspaper.
No relief from restrictions
At a press conference in early November, Johan Carlson said the vaccine will only be one of many tools to deal with the pandemic.
– That we start vaccinations does not mean that the pandemic is over. And this in itself does not mean that we can ease restrictions or other measures that can be taken to prevent the spread of infection, he says.
