The classic Christmas tables are threatened by the crisis of the crown

Trädgår´n had planned for the usual Christmas show with a Christmas table again this year and was hoping to be able to release tickets when the restrictions were relaxed.

But since the Public Health and Infection Control Agency Västra Götaland decided to tighten the guidelines to reduce the spread of the infection, everything is not clear.

– Depends on whether current restrictions are extended. At the moment we do not know if we can put on a Christmas show with a Christmas table or not. Maybe there is an alternative with just a Christmas table. We’ll wait and see, says Carlos Foresti, site manager for Trädgå´rn in Gothenburg.

At Carlsten’s Fortress on Marstrand, restaurateur Thomas Berndtsson has made a painful decision. This year there will be no Christmas table in the Hall of the Knights.

“No idea”

– Due to the current situation, we have reasoned about how we should do it. Last week we received many cancellations and we believe that it is not an idea, he says and believes that with the restrictions it would not be the experience that characterizes the Christmas table in the fortress.

Sjömagasinet CEO Jonas Marting says Gothenburg’s traditional restaurant won’t have its classic Christmas table this year.

– We decided it already in August. It is a process to start a Christmas table and you do not do it the day before. Instead, we will have “Christmas at the table,” table service and a Christmas-inspired menu, he says.

Jonas Marting states that all restrictions are followed. Many tables have already been removed this spring. Distances are maintained and the number of guests is limited in consultation with doctors, he explains.

Jungman Jansson makes different Christmas tables

The restaurateur and chef Stefan Zeko from Jungman Jansson in Önnereds Brygga in Västra Frölunda wants to offer a “regular” Christmas table this year whenever possible. But instead of, as in previous years, sitting with 200 people, it will be limited to 70. At each table, a maximum of eight people are seated according to the strictest guidelines.

– We will have two departure buffets and at each station there will be isopropyl alcohol and vinyl gloves. A special Christmas table host brings one party at a time to the buffet and makes sure everyone spreads their hands. The food is placed on smaller plates so they are changed more frequently, says Stefan Zeko.

It states that the new restrictions meant that 80 percent of previous reservations were canceled.
