Swedish Democrats want Swedes to be encouraged to wear mouth guards.
Now also the Center. They demand that the Swedish Public Health Agency introduce general advice where the spread of infection is greatest and in settings where congestion cannot be avoided.
The match refers to research showing that oral protection has a dampening effect on the spread of infection.

Academy of Sciences: “There is evidence”
In early December, the WHO toughened up its advice on mouth guards and believes they should be used in workplaces, schools and businesses that do not have adequate ventilation or if it is not known what the ventilation is like.
“When in doubt, it is safer to just wear a mouth guard,” the WHO wrote in the new advice.
Anders Tegnell commented on this and said that it could be relevant in certain situations, but that it is not yet recommended by the Public Health Agency.
– But so far we have wanted to say, when talking to the regions, that these situations could be handled by keeping a distance. What all studies show is more important than mouth guards.
The Academy of Sciences has previously recommended oral protection.
– Today there is new experimental and epidemiological evidence that mouth guards reduce the risk of airborne infection, but none because they would have the opposite effect, said Staffan Normark, chair of the academy expert group on Covid-19 at that moment.
