Debris from the aircraft that has been found in the water is brought ashore on Sunday morning local time.

Signals believed to have come from the plane that crashed in Indonesia on Saturday have been discovered.

– We have discovered two different signals, they may come from the black box, we must investigate it, says Bagus Puruhito, head of the authority responsible for the registry.

At the place where the plane is believed to have crashed, they also found what could be the remains of passengers, authorities say.

– During the morning, we received two suitcases, one with the belongings of the passengers and the other with the remains, says Yusri Yunus, spokesman for the Jakarta Police for Metro TV.

An Indonesian Sriwijaya Air Boeing plane disappeared shortly after taking off from Jakarta on Saturday. Fishermen are reported to have found wreckage, and authorities believe the plane crashed near Laki Island.

The plane has capacity for about 130 people, but according to information from the rescue service, there were 62 people on board, of which 12 belonged to the crew.
