The Gothenburg district annual meeting postponed in March was held, as DN wrote on Friday, entirely in digital and cut form. The treatment of the 58 motions is postponed for the future.

The election for the new board was made in accordance with the proposal presented by the nominating commission, headed by Axel Josefson, as daily chairman of the municipal board. The new members of the board were Margareta Broang, as second vice president, and Gustaf Göthberg.

The point of schedule instead, all the light went to the election of members of the Nominating and Recruiting Committee. It is the group that proposes to the nomination meeting who should be placed on the ballot papers for the Riksdag, the region and the municipal council.

As DN wrote on Friday, a last-minute proposal was put forward as an attempted compromise between different parties to the party in Gothenburg, which has long struggled to keep up.

Hampus Magnusson supported the proposal by a member of the nominating committee who received the most votes.

The compromise proposal had been tabled by District President David Josefsson, City Councilman Hampus Magnusson, and regional politician Peter Hermansson and they agreed that the nominating committee would be expanded from seven to eight members. The annual meeting chose, as expected, to say yes. The number of votes was 98-15.

– I think that was the most important thing today, that we could rally around this and that everyone feels that we are now moving forward and focused on an electoral victory in 2022, says re-elected district president David Josefsson.

Do you mean that the atmosphere at the party in Gothenburg feels better now, after the annual meeting?

– Of course it is difficult to capture all the emotions of a digital gathering, but that the proposal has received so much approval, I think it is a good sign that we have moved forward to heal the party.

But the following the question about who would be elected to this new seat, and who would represent what part of the party, was not given.

In the nominating committee’s proposal, Britt Olsson would represent the associations known as the 3rd constituency. But there Peter Hermansson nominated Björn Nilsson-Törnström in his place. Hampus Magnusson demanded approval of the proposal and in the anonymous vote, the proposal won by 75 votes to 55.

The additional seat on the committee is now for moderate seniors. If Britt Olsson or someone else gets it, the Seniors Annual Meeting itself will decide later.

The person elected by the annual meeting as chair of the nominating and recruiting committee is Stefan Svensson, former chairman of the Partille municipal board and now first vice chairman of the municipal public utility in Gothenburg, AB Framtiden.

Between all the movements that have not been addressed now, there are several that have the potential to generate a heated debate. President David Josefsson tells DN that he hopes to call an additional annual meeting relatively soon.

– We hope you will be allowed to gather up to 500 people, even if you start to refine yourself a bit. But that’s what we like, meeting to discuss politics.
