The alarm: fake cops hit Highway 40

That night, on October 27, as Louice Kangasmaa was on her way home to Borås after a work shift in Mölndal, she was detained in what appeared to be a civilian police car, an incident that P4 Gothenburg was the first to report. .

This took place at an altitude between Circle K Bollebygd and the airport junction on Highway 40.

– They put a red juice mixer on the roof and when it widened to the side of the road, they showed me there to stay, says Louice Kangasmaa.

Two uniformed police women got out of the car and asked to see Louice Kangasmaa’s certificate of ownership from the Swedish Transport Agency. While the two uniformed women went through the credentials, Louice had to wait outside.

– One girl sat in the driver’s seat while the other stayed with the door close to her because the rain was pouring down. Then after eating, they go out and say “Everything looks good, drive carefully and have a nice continuous night,” he says.

Got rid of her engagement ring

After the dark Volvo SUV pulls into gear, Louice Kangasmaa discovers that something is wrong.

When you have to put something back in the glove compartment, you find that all of its contents have been drained. There was, among other things, proprietary paper and her toiletries, where, among other things, her medicines and her engagement ring are located.

– It is only when I realize: “Help! Where is it that just happened, I have been robbed”, says Louice Kangasmaa.

It goes on Circle K Bollebygd after this and there is a police car. After a dialogue with the police officer, they inform him that no civilian vehicle has carried out inspections in the surroundings. In addition, you are asked to make a police report.

“You want to do the right thing for yourself”

And it is only in connection with the fact that you report to the Gothenburg police that the police inform you that the “juice mixer” of a real police car is red and blue and that the entire police car lights up blue. Also, police officers don’t have to ask to see the certificate of ownership because they can look it up in their own systems, Louice explains.

And it’s only now that Louice realizes that two women’s police uniforms don’t match actual police officers.

– It was only when I realized it was not authentic. They behaved with objectivity and kindness, they expressed themselves in the way one would expect a police officer to do. And if you are stopped by a police officer, you want to do the right thing and cooperate, he says.

She continues:

– They felt charged if you can say it, or they spoke what you at least perceive as police language if you’ve seen Beck or Wallander movies.

How do you feel afterwards?

– A day passed before I understood what he had been through. I felt like I became more attentive if I had someone behind me at night when I was driving home like that. In the early days, her heart rate and adrenaline spiked. Then came the idea that they might have been armed. I was probably lucky in bad luck because I had a cell phone, wallet, and keys in my jacket pocket.

Since then, Louice has been informed that her police report has been withdrawn.

– There was nothing straightforward to go on, explains Jan Johansson, head of the preliminary investigation on duty at the Älvsborg police.

Being guilty of pretending to hold public office, that is, pretending to be an official like the police, is a crime punishable by imprisonment.

– It is an extremely rare case that thieves disguise themselves as policemen. It’s also hard to protect yourself, says Johansson.
