Five children are suspected of being murdered by their mother in an apartment in Solingen, Germany.

A boy survived and sent a message to his best friend.

“I just wanted to tell you that you won’t see me anymore because all my brothers are dead,” he wrote.

Police were alerted this week to a house in Solingen, east of Düsseldorf, Germany. There were five dead children in the apartment. The children, three girls and two boys, were between one and eight years old.

Police suspect that their 27-year-old mother killed the children with some kind of tablet. The AP news agency reports.

Took the commuter train

After the crime, she and her sixth child, an 11-year-old boy, are said to have taken a commuter train to Düsseldorf.

The 11-year-old then left with his grandmother in Mönchengladbach.

The 27-year-old mother is said to have tried to kill herself by jumping in front of a train, but survived.

The 11-year-old boy, according to police, is believed not to have witnessed the murders or the mother’s attempted suicide, but was told what happened.

According to the RTL television channel, the boy sent a message to his best friend on WhatsApp.

“I just wanted to tell you that you won’t see me anymore because all my brothers are dead,” he wrote.

“They cried when they came out”

The grandmother was the one who later alerted the police who immediately went to the apartment in Solingen and made the horrible discovery.

According to German media, the first policemen cried when they left the apartment.

– When the police and rescuers came out and cried, it was clear to us that something terrible must have happened, a resident in the area tells German Focus.

Much of the investigation is still unclear and police are working hard to chart the course of events.

The mother, a suspect in the murders, has not yet been questioned by the police.
