RUKA. After the sprint victory at Ruka, Linn Svahn spoke about the message that made her charge more.

It came from 17-year-old little brother Leo Svahn.

– I was going to pour some lighter fluid, says Leo Svahn.

– He really provoked me this morning, says Linn Svahn.

A jubilant Linn Svahn celebrated her crush at the World Cup premiere in Ruka.

He had reason to be happy. There were also reasons to have more labels.

Linn Svahn read early in the morning, in connection with breakfast, a message on her Instagram that was pure adrenaline.

It came from his brother Leo at their home in Östersund.

“Learn how to win tomorrow, otherwise you are a great spacer,” he wrote.

Ruka’s older sister’s response promised very well: “The best motivation of all.”

And probably Linn Svahn was motivated to prove that she is the best sprinter in the world despite the efforts of the last six months, the sprint on skis in Trollhättan and in the snow last weekend in Bruksvallarna, they have not been so successful while he showed his front feet in distance races.

Leo Svahn knew how to speed up his sister.

And then Linn was happy.

– He said that today you have to go and win the phase because otherwise you have left and you have become a spacer. And that’s the one thing I’ve had in my head this year that I should train really well but I shouldn’t train myself to become a long-distance runner. And then it was just a matter of clinking today and proving that I can still run, says Linn Svahn to Sportbladet.

After the victory, Leo Svahn was able to claim that his efforts paid off.

– The purpose was little. Excellent! It was a bit like he had ridden the distance well and took steps there, but he didn’t quite make it in the sprint. I was going to pour in some lighter fluid and tease her a bit. She thought it was good. She doesn’t want to talk about herself as a distance skier, she says.

“Get tagged”

Did he thank you for the victory?

– I spoke to her now a few minutes ago. She said it was okay so it was a thank you …

He followed the race from home.

– It looked good, I already saw in the room that it was strong. When you are in such good shape, you can relax. He had another team, which he didn’t have to use in the semi-finals or the quarter, he says.

Leo Svahn invests in skiing himself, as does his even younger sister Alva, who is good at soccer and skiing.

Seventeen-year-old Leo, who goes to ski high school in Östersund, likes to train with his older sister when they get it from their national team collections.

– It’s great that we can do it, when they can challenge each other.

What does it mean to you that she is so successful?

– When you ride that well, you tag yourself.
