Patients who are sick with covid-19 should be treated in a pressure chamber in Karlskrona. The study, which is a collaboration between the Karolinska Institute, the Swedish Armed Forces and the Blekinge region, aims to try to curb the inflammation suffered by critically ill patients, reports P4 Blekinge.

The patients included in the study should be treated in pressure chambers between one and five treatments each.

Treatment in a pressure chamber means that you are exposed to a pressure corresponding to a dive to a depth of 14 meters, which appears to have a buffering effect on the inflammation that occurs in covid-19, according to Anders Kellberg, a doctoral student at the Karolinska Institute that leads the study.

– Personally, I am very hopeful that this will work, otherwise I would not do this study. I think this may help, he tells the radio.

Similar attempts have been made in other countries, including China.
