The alarm about the strange accident in Hinsholmen, in the west of Gothenburg, sounded at 11:41 p.m. on Friday night. When the rescue service and the ambulance arrived at the scene, they could see that a large sailboat overturned on two cars, one in the stern and one in the bow.

It was not yet clear how the accident occurred during the night. At first, the police understood that two cars had first collided with each other and then that the sailboat overturned on them.

– But is not. But it is a single accident in which one of the cars first collided with a sailboat which, in turn, overturned on the car that caused the incident, but also on a car that was parked there, says Morten Gunneng, police officer on duty in the West region. .

Fellow passengers removed by ambulance

In the car he was driving on the sailboat, in addition to the driver, there were two other people. According to Morten Gunneng, one of them was taken from the scene by ambulance.

The driver is also believed to have been injured, as witnesses told police that he left the scene bleeding.

– The sailboat has capsized and the rudder must have gone through the windshield of one of the cars, Morten Gunneng said.

During the night, police searched for a man in his 20s who is believed to be the one driving the Teslan. According to Gunneng, the man was wanted in part because he is suspected of a crime, but also in order to prove that he does not need attention.

When the GP was installed in the port area overnight on Saturday, the operation was still ongoing. Police searched a couple of private cars circulating in the area and the rescue service tried to contact the owner of the boat.

According to the rescue service personnel, the boat must be lifted with a crane.

– A 42 foot sailboat is not entirely easy to lift, it is at least four tons, I can say, explains Morten Gunneng.

Due to the incident, the police have produced reports of drunk driving and illegal diversions from the scene of the traffic accident.
