A teenager is sentenced to a fine of SEK 2,000 for accidentally setting fire to a barn near Kalvsvik in Växjö municipality, reports Smålandsposten.

The incident occurred one night in October last year, when a group of young people gathered in the barn. A 16-year-old boy brought with him a fireworks rocket that fired at the barn. After a while, some of the young people discovered that the barn had started to burn and contacted 112.

The rescue service withdrew, but was unable to save the barn, which is estimated at 1.6 million SEK. The 16-year-old was charged with gross negligence and his friend for aiding and inciting the 16-year-old to light the rocket.

The Växjö District Court believes the 16-year-old, who says he did not believe the tin barn could start to burn, and is therefore convicted of negligently setting the fire. Your friend is completely free.

Due to the young age of the 16-year-old, and given that the crime is not considered serious, he is sentenced to a fine of 40 days for a total of 2,000 SEK.
