For more than a day, close associates had managed to prevent Donald Trump from speaking.

But when Joe Biden appeared on television Thursday night, the president decided, sources told CNN.

Now Trump is said to be furious and belligerent, at the same time that people in his inner circle try to force him to accept reality.

Joe Biden leads the vote tally in key states and it looks like he will be closing in on victory. Donald Trump goes on to say that the election is rigged and is trying to challenge the outcome in court in several states.

The night before Swedish time on Friday, he held a press conference at the White House. It was the first time he had appeared since election night. Without presenting any evidence, Trump claimed that Democrats are engaging in widespread vote rigging.

-If you count the legal votes, I win easily, he said in the broadcast that was prematurely interrupted by various media.

I tried to stop the speech

For more than a day, several of his close associates had managed to prevent Trump from making a speech. According to CNN sources, they reasoned that a performance would only aggravate the situation.

But when Joe Biden stood in front of television cameras in his hometown of Wilmington on Thursday night, Trump decided it was time and pushed for the White House press conference on short notice, the television station claims.

Earlier on Friday, CNN reported that several members of the White House staff were upset that no one was speaking seriously about Trump. His closest confidants, including Chief of Staff Mike Meadows, were told what he wanted to hear and continued to feed him accusations that the election was rigged.

During the night towards Saturday came partial new information from CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta. He writes on Twitter that Trump refuses to realize that the presidency is slipping through his fingers. Attorney Rudy Giuliani and others in Trump’s inner circle are now trying to “prosecute” the president into actually taking it.

Jim Acosta refers to one of Trump’s advisers who describes the situation in the White House as “chaos.”

“Trump is in a very bad mood”

Trump has been locked up in the White House since election night and often engages in angry phone calls. By Friday morning, he was in a bad mood, watching television and complaining that there were no more Republicans defending him in public, according to CNN.

“My sources in the White House say Donald Trump is in a bad mood,” former Omarosa Manigault Newman told Sky News.

– You have a small receipt today. He wants his lawyers to stop counting, he yells at everyone to use their power, their money or whatever they can.

According to CNN, on the one hand, Trump has admitted to some people that he realizes the elections are slipping out of his hands. But he insists the lengthy legal proceedings and outbursts of anger over the electoral fraud should allow him to refuse to accept the election result.

– He’s in the mood to fight. He believes it will benefit him to take the fight, a source tells CNN.

Several high-ranking White House officials are now reportedly quietly distancing themselves from Trump out of sheer self-preservation.

“It’s over,” one of them told CNN.

Tasks: redundancy planning

Other sources tell the Politico news site that Trump has already come up with a plan on how to make the most of the last time he was in the White House.

– The first will be: who stays, who has been loyal and who is competent? says a Republican source.

Donald Trump Junior, the president’s eldest son, called Thursday for a “war” against Democrats and a corrupt electoral system on Twitter.

In addition to firing government officials and top advisers such as FBI Director Christopher Wray and Defense Secretary Mark Esper, there are reports that Trump is planning a series of executive orders next week.

They should focus on manufacturing and trade with China, but social issues may also be on the agenda, say two Republicans with knowledge of Politico.
