NEW YORK. Tampa uses various methods to terrorize poor New Yorkers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

On Monday, they crushed them 8-2, and last night instead, they put up a decisive 2-1 with just nine seconds left in the third period.

– Sick of course, says Victor Hedman, new number one in the goal of the tracks, to Sportbladet.

As the numbers show, the second round between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the New York Islanders was completely different than the first.

Then, on Monday, Tampa was completely superior and won by resounding knockout. Now the islanders offered much better endurance and were probably the dominant team on the ice for a long time even.

But Tampa still won.

In the most wonderful way, or cruel, depending on where you have your sympathies.

“Blackout in the cabin”

Barely nine seconds left of the third half when Ryan McDonagh landed a brilliant pass to Nikita Kutjerov right in front of the Isles area and the Russian was able to effortlessly whip in the decisive 2-1 goal behind compatriot Semyon Varlamov.

– It was so nice that I had a blackout in the cabin, says coach Jon Cooper, who cheers with enthusiasm.

Victor Hedman didn’t get it, but he was happy.
– Yes, of course it was very nice to see that record come in, say hello to a text message from Edmonton.

– We had a hard time with just nine forwards for much of the match, but they were all responsible for a real fighting effort tonight.

Hedman with his seventh goal

Yes, Lightning undoubtedly had a lot going against him. They ended up in an early 0-1 deficit, Alex Killorn entered a legitimate penalty shootout soon after and at the end of the first period superstar Brayden Point disappeared due to injury, with which they had to face nine forwards for 40 minutes ( the Florida team always comes to play with seven backs and eleven forwards). But they consistently resisted the intense forcing of the islanders, even during the five-minute handicap that followed Killorn’s match penalty and a little later even when they were three-on-five. It feels like a new character trait. Previous editions of Lightning haven’t really had that stamina and endurance.

Hedman himself cemented his position as one of the great kings of the current playoffs and crashed late in the opening period his seventh goal since the party started in early August. Therefore, you now have sole control of the target of the tracks.

– Yes, it seems that the discs go in, so it’s just one shot, he says.

The next game in the Eastern Conference Finals will be played the night before Saturday.

Then Tampa can get a game ball.
