NEW YORK. In a couple of days, Victor Hedman may be ready for his second Stanley Cup final.

Tampa Bay Lightning won Sunday’s matinee against the New York Islanders and is therefore 3-1 ahead in the final series of the conference.

– We deserved the victory today, but they have hardly thought about leaving and learning how to play their best hockey in the next game, says “Vigge” to Sportbladet after the 4-1 victory.

It’s starting to look like the final round of the Stanley Cup playoff conference could be a concise story.

As early as Saturday night, Dallas got the match ball in its series against Las Vegas and on Sunday it was Tampa’s turn to force the New York Islanders onto the bridge in the same way.

Three goals in 27 seconds

They finally managed to win the fourth match that started with practically nothing in 30 minutes. Then he just said bang. In 27 seconds midway through the second period, the bell rang three times. Brock Nelson scored 1-0 for the Islanders with an outstanding shot, but didn’t have time to stop cheering until Blake Coleman and Blake Coleman responded.

– I still think we started well and had a real advantage in shots on goal when they scored their first goal, says Victor Hedman by phone from Edmonton.

– And it was incredibly strong to respond that way in that situation.

“You won’t hear me complain”

Then Lightning took over the event, taking a 3-1 lead at the start of the third through Brayden Point and then Pat Maroon was able to put all four into an empty net at the end.

– Of course it meant a lot that we got Brayden back, but I think we were a better team overall for 60 minutes and therefore we deserved to win.

“Vigge” did not represent any new points, but he played just over 29 minutes and therefore contributed in other ways.

– Not against me, hehe. Got stuck on ice, a few changes so maybe it was a bit longer than planned, but no one will hear me complain that I have a lot of ice time.

The next meeting will be decided the night before Wednesday. Then Tampa can decide the entire series and Victor will be ready for his second Stanley Cup final.

– The fourth game in a series is always the hardest to win. The Islanders have hardly thought about leaving and will learn to play their best hockey in the next game, he says.

– But at the same time, it’s incredibly inspiring to play when the stakes are so high. We will be charged.
