Early Wednesday morning, five people were taken away for questioning after a major police operation. Police Commissioner Magnus Lindegren says GP that one of the people has connections to sports.

– The one we call director is a name in sports, including football. The other four are connected to him in different ways, Lindegren tells the newspaper.

According to Fotbollskanalen, it should be a concerned Swedish elite referee, who has judged at the highest level in Sweden and also at the highest level internationally.

Reached millions

The people are suspected of serious fraud and money laundering. The director is said to have defrauded companies by the millions and then laundered the money through thousands of transactions.

People have been questioned by the police during the day and all five have been arrested. Interrogations are expected to continue on Thursday.
