One or more people are suspected of attempting to carry out an exemption attempt at a juvenile institution in Kalix on Friday.

Police are patrolling the area and are also investigating a serious firearms crime.

– We are working on the basis of the thesis that an attempt is made to free someone who lives in the home, policeman on duty David Levy said late Friday night.

A lengthy operation was launched when police were alerted to the institution at 2 pm Friday. Once in place, it was discovered that someone or someone had made a hole in the fence.

According to Norrländska Socialdemokraten, witnesses have seen two men carrying something similar to pistols and in a photograph taken by NSD, from an unidentified source, a man can be seen wearing black clothing and a mouth guard.

People must have left the youth home area fairly immediately.

Initially, the incident was classified as an illicit intrusion, but during the evening a report was made promoting the escape and crime with an aggravated weapon. This is what the TT police say on Saturday, but the reason for the classification cannot be answered at the moment.

As dawn breaks on Saturday morning in Kalix, the police are on the scene with a patrol in the area. No one has been arrested. For NSD, the department head, Tomas Fjellvind, says that, after all, the atmosphere on Friday night was calm.

In August, the police avoided a liberation visit from the youth home, writes Norrbottens-Kuriren.

According to NSD, 22 young people between the ages of 16 and 21 are enrolled in the institution.
