Recently, several have testified about a man who allegedly harassed women on the Rosa- and Blå Express bus lines between Marklandsgatan and Snipen.
The victims, in various Facebook groups, described a man in his 30s who approached women in unpleasant ways on buses.
Henrik Kjellberg, a communicator for Västtrafik, says they know a man who is said to have harassed travelers.
– Since Monday, we have sent security hosts who travel on specific lines to monitor and act as calming and reassuring. We also have the opportunity to send security guards if a situation arises, says Henrik Kjellberg.
The police have received a report
Kalle Fridén from the police in southwest Gothenburg confirms that a harassment complaint has been received.
– We have a person suspected of harassment in that area. We have talked to him about it, but now he is not with us, says Kalle Fridén.
Taking the law into your own hands is immediately inappropriate
The events have provoked emotions among the inhabitants of the area, especially on social networks, where they also talk about acting themselves. Subject to the fact that he himself has not seen any publication, Kalle Fridén asks for calm.
– A preliminary investigation is underway and no one has been convicted. Then lying down and taking the law into your own hands is downright inappropriate, he says.
Local municipal police Niklas Svensson also raises a warning finger at the role of social media in cases like this, in part because it leads to a lot of advice in the form of secondary information.
– Man’s behavior is not acceptable anywhere, but when you post it on different pages, it becomes a bit like the whispering game. We would like to have data, but we want first-hand information, he says.
