Supreme Court against Trump in early February

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, will now present the indictment to the Senate on Monday. Republican and minority leader Mitch McConnell previously stated that he wanted the House of Representatives to deliver formal charges against Trump on January 28 and that the former president would have two weeks to prepare his defense.

– As I understand it, (the accusation from the Supreme Court) will reach us on Monday. According to Senate regulations, if the document has reached us, we must begin the trial immediately, McConnell said Friday.

Bid nominations

Democrats Pelosi and Schumer said Friday they wanted to start the trial Tuesday, The Washington Post reports. Later that day, newly appointed President Joe Biden expressed his desire to postpone the Supreme Court a bit: “The more time we have to begin and respond to the country’s crises, the better.”

Schumer justifies the start two weeks later by allowing the Senate to proceed with Biden’s nominations for important positions in the new administration and his proposal for a pandemic support package, before proceeding with the work of the Supreme Court.

You want to move on

Donald Trump is accused of inciting the rebellion, following the assault on the Capitol of the United States Congress on January 6.

“We all want to leave this terrible chapter in our nation’s history behind, but healing and unity will only come if there is truth and responsibility, and that is what this judgment will provide,” says Schumer.
