It is estimated that almost 10 percent, or around 4.7 million people, have been infected with Covid-19 in Spain. It shows a study that was presented on Tuesday.
The estimate is based on a survey, in which just over 54,400 people were crowned across the country in the last two weeks of November. This would mean that much more of the more than 1.7 million cases registered in Spain have contracted the viral disease.
According to the study, the highest proportion of infected people live in Madrid, where it is estimated that just over 18 percent have been infected.
The first part of the study was released in July, after nearly 70,000 people were tested between April and June. At that time, the results indicated that just over 5 percent of the population had been infected.
More than 48,400 people with covid-19 have died in Spain since the outbreak began, according to statistics from Johns Hopkins University in the United States.
Spain has about 47 million inhabitants.
