The new restrictions mean that residents should refrain from all unnecessary travel, not stay in stores, libraries and bathrooms, avoid physical contact with people other than those who live together and not participate in meetings, concerts, performances, sports training, games and competitions.
The Gävleborg County Board of Directors has also made a local decision banning public gatherings and public events with more than 50 participants.
– The most important thing at this time is to focus on people’s lives and health. But all our advice is completely useless if people don’t follow it. The reason for our decision is that the infection spreads rapidly and has reached special homes where we have our elderly. We must ensure we have the infection under control, says the responsible county administrative board.
Testing capacity in the Gävleborg region it is also under severe pressure and residents with no symptoms are urged to wait to get tested.
