The coronavirus in Sweden
The Swedish Public Health Agency, the National Board of Health and Welfare and MSB are holding a press conference with updates on the situation of the crown in Sweden. Your TV broadcasts live.
40 new deaths with confirmed covid-19 have been reported in Sweden, according to the Swedish Public Health Agency. Thus, a total of 6,122 infected people have died in the country.
A total of 171,365 people have been confirmed to be infected with covid-19 in Sweden.
The Public Health Agency continues his austerity tour in the country and toughens the rules of the crown in four more regions: Dalarna, Gotland, Värmland and Västmanland.
Regions responsible for healthcare are experiencing an increasing burden in line with the further spread of the infection, and on Tuesday, the National Board of Health and Welfare declared that nine regions have entered staffing or boost mode. On Thursday, the Västerbotten and Gävleborg region also went into personal mode.
“We are in this so-called second wave,” says Gävleborg infection control doctor Lars Wesslén at a press conference and at the same time says the region will soon receive stricter local advice.
So far, 17 of the country’s 21 regions have received local advice from the Swedish Public Health Agency (FHM), where Dalarna, Gotland, Värmland and Västmanland were added on Thursday.
The Västernorrland region, which is currently experiencing a “sharp increase” in the number of covid cases, will receive stricter advice, but not yet, according to the region’s infection control doctor Hans Boman.
“We have a discussion with the Public Health Agency and, as it seems now, a decision will be made early next week,” he says.
Why it takes so long?
“The Swedish Public Health Agency has a strategy where you need a few regions at the same time and it depends on how you see the spread of the infection. Those most affected have been captured first and then gradually the others, and we follow. I think it’s good to do that. I shouldn’t do it too soon. “
Blekinge, on his own initiative, has introduced local councils which, in terms of content, are reminiscent of those of the Public Health Agency, but which are not formally issued by the agency. The region believes that the process has taken too long.
Blekinge still wants the Public Health Agency to toughen the council, but he still declined a meeting on the matter with the agency on Wednesday.
“I was already scheduled for two other meetings and they were actually more important,” says Blekinge’s infection control doctor, Bengt Wittesjö, who is not saying what the other meetings were about.
“I look forward to a new calling. Clearly we must have this discussion and if I don’t get a summons this week, I will request it myself.
