The large school fire in Borlänge was under control at 4.30pm on Thursday, local media reported. Emergency services would let the building catch fire.
The fire alarm at Gylle School came at 3:18 PM. It was then burned uncontrollably on the roof of a school building that would have been demolished in accordance with previous decisions. There was no operation in the building.
– The part of the school that is burned is in conjunction with the other school. There is a risk of dispersal, Daniel Holmstrand, internal commander of the Dala Mitt rescue service, told dt.se during the extinction work.
Heavy smoke appeared over the city and in an Important Message to the Public (VMA), emergency services asked residents in the area to enter and close doors, windows, and ventilation.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. Police classify the incident as negligent negligence.
