The alarm about an explosion in Första Långgatan came at 11:15 am on Wednesday.

About ten police units were alerted to the scene, as well as five ambulances and five rescue service units.

– Looks like it happened on the third floor. Outside there are broken glass. An injured person has been treated and handed over to an ambulance. According to my information, the injuries are not life-threatening, says police spokesman Thomas Fuxborg.

SOS Alarm confirms shortly after noon that two people were injured and taken to hospital. Four ambulances remain at the scene.

Inside the health center

According to the information, the explosion occurred in a health center on the third floor.

– Yes, I can confirm it. According to the information we received, the detonation took place inside the health center, said Christer Fuxborg at the police information unit at 12 noon.

According to the police, a preliminary investigation has been initiated, where the initial criminal offense is one of serious general destruction.

Thomas Fuxborg says preparations are being made for technicians and the National Bomb Protection to enter the building.

– They must check that there is nothing else in the room that could explode, says Thomas Fuxborg.

The building has the address Första Långgatan 16, at the intersection with Nordhemsgatan. National bomb protection has mainly blocked Nordhemsgatan.

Small in the same direction

The incident affects public transport that normally passes through Masthuggstorget. Tram lines 3, 9 and 11 take detours and cause delays.

Just over three weeks ago, on October 20, an explosion occurred in the exact same direction. No suspect has been arrested after that incident.
