Strengthens control of who gets vaccinated, after disclosure from the GP

The Västra Götaland region and the municipal cooperation organization Västkom met on Monday to discuss the GP disclosure, which was released on Sunday evening.

The GP could tell you that people who are not part of any of the priority groups have been vaccinated against covid-19, with doses that would have gone to health and care personnel.

The Svea vaccine, which was purchased by the Västra Götaland region to vaccinate care and nursing staff in Gothenburg, among other places, has not verified where people actually work.

Through a reservation link that has been distributed, the name, telephone and email address have been sufficient to book an appointment. At the vaccination site, a regular identification card and a health declaration, which does not affect one’s work, have been sufficient.

Link to reservation page closed

On Monday morning, after GP’s reveal, Svea Vaccin tightened control on her booking page. There now they needed to confirm the phrase: “You must bring your ID and service card to prove that you are going to be vaccinated.”

“It is to show that you should be booked for the Covid-19 vaccine and receive the link through your employer and not by mistake,” Svea Vaccine writes alongside.

When GP reaches out to the vaccinator’s executive director, Ridha Hadfi, to ask her questions about the change, she doesn’t want to comment.

– I don’t want to comment on this, unfortunately. I have no comment, he says.

Later in the morning the current link stopped working. Instead, visitors get an error message.

Instead, Gothenburg city care and nursing staff will receive a new reservation link, according to the municipality’s vaccination coordinator Maria Terins.

– Since it has been abused, it is good that the system is sharpened, so that those prioritized in group one receive their vaccine, says Babbs Edberg, director of senior management and care and welfare

Sorry for the management increase

In addition to the invalidation of the link, the Västra Götaland region has urged all vaccinators to check where the patient works in the future.

The approximately 2,700 people who work in the home care service in the city of Gothenburg have a service ID, but not the approximately 3,000 who are employed in nursing homes. Instead, they can bring a salary statement.

– What makes it even more boring is that this means there will be an expanded administration with each vaccine, which means it will take even longer for those who need it most, says the region’s vaccination coordinator, Kristine Rygge, after sitting down. in meetings during the morning. .

At the same time, isn’t it important to check that the right people are getting the vaccine?

– Of course. But I mean, when people get ahead of the line like this, it takes longer to vaccinate those who need it most.

According to Kristine Rygge, some of the seven acquired vaccinators have used specific booking links, while others have received lists of staff from care managers. He claims to have noticed that the Svea Vaccine link was first spread in connection with the GP post.

Vaccine Direct also toughens the requirements

In addition to Svea Vaccine, the City of Gothenburg uses the Vaccin Direkt company to vaccinate its staff. They too have changed their routines and are demanding employment certificates after the GP reveal.

According to Vaccin Direkt area manager Karin Fröberg, VGR has not previously required that they verify that the person being vaccinated really belongs to the correct vaccination group.

– No, not them. We have worked according to VGR guidelines, he says.

At Vaccin Direkt, bookers have always had to click two boxes when booking an appointment; partly to confirm that you have received the link from your boss and partly because you are a healthcare professional.

– So if you answer yes without belonging to the correct group, you lie twice, says Karin Fröberg.

Vaccine Direct also requires identification with a bank ID at the time of booking.

Karin Fröberg doesn’t think people were the first in her vaccination queue. He claims that many of Gothenburg city employees have brought work clothes and that managers have often been near their mobile vaccination units.

– We have not experienced that unauthorized people have been vaccinated, he says.

I thought the system could be based on trust

Those responsible for vaccination will now sharpen their attention even more, according to the vaccination coordinator of the Västra Götaland region, Kristine Rygge.

– We will have a hard time. We have weekly meetings with the vaccinators and it will be rock hard. I feel like they’re on the alert now too, because probably no one wants it to be like that. Everyone is concerned that we should get vaccinated in the most effective and efficient way possible.

Thus, the stricter requirements mean, among other things, that the people to be vaccinated must now identify themselves as employees of the municipality in question.

Was it wrong not to have that requirement from the beginning?

– We think we could build a system based on trust. But in hindsight, he could have had a service id or salary statement all along, absolutely.
