Caterevent, the company behind Falsterbo Strandbad’s restaurant, went bankrupt on Friday. Ten employees lose their jobs.
– We cannot deal with the crisis of the crown, says CEO Johan Ahlbin.
The Caterevent company, which ran the Falsterbo Strandbad restaurant, filed for bankruptcy on Friday.
The company, which worked with catering and events, has been responsible for the part of the conference in Malmö Börshus and has run the restaurant in Falsterbo Strandbad. The companies behind those operations are also covered by bankruptcy.
– We have done what we could. I am very proud of what we have achieved, both at Börshuset and Strandbaden. And about my team, which has fought to the end. But corona is an overwhelming opponent, says Johan Ahlbin, CEO of Caterevent and the other companies.
A total of ten employees are covered bankruptcy. The staff was briefed on Friday.
Since the conference customers disappeared this spring, all employees have worked in Strandbaden, where a large part of the business during the pandemic consisted of food deliveries.
– We have a short-term license and we have done our best to adapt. The usual professional roles disappear in a situation like this. He becomes a driver when he may have been an administrator. I’ve been doing the dishes myself. All have been helped.
“I am very proud of my team, which has fought to the end. But Corona is an overwhelming opponent,” says Johan Ahlbin, Caterevent CEO.
The company bought the conference facilities at Börshuset 2017. Last summer, the Falsterbo Strandbad restaurant was also taken over.
– It was a record year, and it seemed to be even better in 2020. But everything disappeared, in two days everything was canceled. And we don’t see any shine.
Johan Ahlbin estimates that sales have declined by just over twenty million during the year.
– Since it is not possible to set an end date for the crown crisis, it is no longer possible.
As Sydsvenskan previously reported, the municipality of Vellinge has had discussions with Caterevent about expanding operations at Falsterbo Strandbad, if the moderates’ proposal to close Naturum and the art gallery is approved. It is unclear who will now take over the operation.
Bankruptcy Trustee Simon Henderson It says that the Strandbaden restaurant will be open for the weekend. A decision will be made on Monday about what the near future will be like.
– We can analyze the conditions to transfer the entire business or sell the assets that are available, he says.
