During today’s party leader debate in the Riksdag, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (S) said for the first time that a large migration has a connection with the development of crime.
– With a large migration where we cannot cope with integration, there is also a higher risk of the kinds of problems that we see. It’s very clear. What I want to avoid and what we should be very careful about is not automatically linking crime to skin color or religion, Löfven said during Wednesday’s party leader debate in the Riksdag.
The statement was in response to a question from SD party leader Jimmie Åkesson if he does not see a connection between large-scale immigration and rising crime.
In an interview with SVT: s Aktuellt On Wednesday night, Löfven developed the reasoning:
– If you have a migration that means in the order of magnitude that you cannot cope with integration, yes, it is clear then it will be the case that you put social tensions on a society, and that is not good.
Migration has been too great in the past, he continued.
– Yes, we have. And that is why the government I lead has made sure to change immigration policy. We have had such a migration that we did not manage the integration well enough.
Löfven noted that about children You see too many adults who are not at work, they think it is normal, which in the long run generates social tensions.
– It’s a problem. That is why the government I lead changed immigration policy, so now we receive significantly less, she told SVT.
When asked if it’s not better to make sure the integration works better, he replied:
– They are connected. It should work with schools, preschools, work, etc. We will do our part in Sweden, but other EU countries must do their part in a much better way.
The sheets were also pressed in SVT on cooperation with the Green Party on migration issues where the parties do not agree. In July of next year the temporary migration law expires, which, among other things, deals with temporary restrictions to obtain a residence permit.
– We will make sure we have new legislation in place in July next year, legislation that is sustainable, which means that we will not go back to the situation we had in the autumn of 2015, Löfven said.
