Several employees of the central intensive care unit at Uppsala University Hospital have been on sick leave since they had problems with the gas masks used during the covid-19 pandemic, reports SVT Nyheter Uppsala. The gas masks have been borrowed from the Armed Forces and are so heavy that personnel have had neck and shoulder problems. Now, however, staff have access to other masks that are better suited to the business.
Three employees also developed eczema from untested hand alcohol that was ordered for lack of other alternatives.
– We’ve never seen that before. It was also a time when he had to resort to a lot of weird solutions and was a bit quick at times, says SVT’s chief physician Magnus von Seth.
