On Friday morning, parents from the Grottan preschool in Huddinge were contacted and asked to pick up their children. This as corona was found among the staff.

– We have an employee who has confirmed the infection by sampling. Then we have more employees showing symptoms who are waiting for sample responses and waiting to be evaluated, says Malin Bengtsson, interim director of the preschool.

A parent as DN has spoken says the message came quickly.

– We would get more information during the day. It’s hard if they close for a week, but health and wellness should come first. I hope everyone is well with those affected. He’s a great preschooler, says the father.

The closure is made to reduce the risk of spreading the infection.

– The Administration for Children and Education decided, in consultation with Smittskydd Stockholm, to close the preschool to reduce the risk of further spread of the infection. The reason the entire preschool closes is that the people with symptoms are in several different departments. That is, the entire preschool is affected and not just an individual department, says Susanne Fritz, chief of preschool operations for the Administration for Education and Children in Huddinge.

How is the people?

– We do not comment on people’s health status, but Acting Director Malin Bengtsson, of course, has contact with employees who are ill to check how they feel.

What should you think about as a parent?

Guardians should pay particular attention to the symptoms of their children and themselves for the next 14 days and, during this period, be very careful to stay away from others and follow the advice of the public health authority. The public health authority does not recommend sampling for preschool-age children, but if a child shows symptoms, they should stay home and avoid contact with other people.

It is not clear how long the preschool will be closed. The municipality is now investigating alternative care solutions.

– As we see now, it is an isolated incident in Grottan, but we closely follow the development of events in all our operations, and we take the necessary measures based on the recommendations of the authorities to limit the spread of the infection, says Helena Näslund, Acting Director of Education in a press release.

Also a preschool in Hammarbyhöjden in Stockholm has been badly affected. 10 out of 14 educators have been ill, more of them with established covid infection. There, however, they have chosen not to close the nursery, but parents are urged to keep their children at home, something that the newspaper Mitt i was the first to tell.

“On the advice of Smittskydd Stockholm, we will not close the preschool; however, all who can are urged to keep their children at home for 14 days from now. This is to break the chain of infection. We also want to relieve so that healthy employees can care for children who must be in preschool, ”Ina Kainelainen wrote Sunday in an email to parents who has read Mitt i.

The number of covid-19 cases continues to rise in Stockholm County. Last week 1,660 new cases were registered. However, the Stockholm Region notes that there are indications that the rate of increase is slowing down, which means that the curve is not rising as steeply as before. Last week’s increase was 11 percent from the previous week. The two weeks before that, the increase was 20 and 36 percent, respectively. However, the region adds that this may be a temporary variation.

– Now we stockholmers put ourselves to the test again and we must work hard to avoid the steep rise that we see in many places in Europe. Throw parties, wash your hands, and stay away from all kinds of crowds. What we should not cancel are visits to care because care is ongoing and it is important not to delay seeking care if you need it, says Björn Eriksson, director of health and medical care in the Stockholm Region, in a statement from press.
