Both the spread of the infection and the number of patients in hospitals continue to decline, shows Tuesday’s picture of the situation from the Skåne Region. Last week, new covid cases decreased to the same level as in early November.
Last week In Skåne, 4,108 new cases of covid were registered. Since the first week of November, the spread of the infection has not been at that level. Three weeks ago, more than ten thousand new cases were registered in one week.
Although part of the recent decline is due to fewer people getting tested, the proportion of positive results has dropped significantly. Just over 15 percent of those tested last week had COVID, a proportion that a few weeks ago was almost 37 percent.
In Skåne hospitals, the number of covid patients also continues to decline, Tuesday’s situation shows.
In the wards (not VAT), 237 patients are treated, the lowest figure since December 6.
Although the 48 patients with intensive care covid were as many as the previous day, the burden on VAT has decreased during the last week.
About that If current trends continue, the burden on healthcare may decrease even further in the future. It is mainly elderly covid patients who need care and among them the number of new cases decreased by almost a third in the last week.
However, all figures are still significantly higher than in October, when the second wave of the pandemic hit Skåne.
As of Tuesday, 432 new covid cases had been recorded in Skåne in the past 24 hours, slightly below the average of 560 cases per day for the past seven days.
