Just over a month ago, the incredibly popular game Fortnite was removed from the Appstore after the company ended in a conflict with Apple.
But Epic Games, which is behind Fortnite, is not the only company that has been at odds with Apple.
The Swedish streaming giant has had a long and infected conflict with Apple, prompting Spotify to notify Apple to the EU. Spotify founder Daniel Ek has also written a list of demands on what he wants Apple to change.
Merges with Epic Games and Tinder
Now Spotify joins forces with Epic Games, Tile, Match (which owns the TInder dating app) and Deezer and demands fairer terms on the Appstore, writes The Verge. The companies have created the Coalition for App Fairness group and on the organization’s website, which was published Thursday, they have a 10-point list of requirements they want to meet. These include that app makers should avoid steep fees (Apple charges a 30 percent fee for payments made in the app store), that there are no alternatives to the Appstore in Apple’s operating system, and that Apple uses its control over the operating system for the benefit of its own services.
To address the issues, the group proposes that Apple and other platform owners adopt a “code of conduct.”
“The goals are ambitious and include requests that developers should not be forced to use a dedicated app store, that all developers should have the same access to the same technology information as the platform owner, and that developers should not be forced to pay unfair, unreasonable or discriminatory fees or income distributions placed in the app store, “the site writes.
