The vote in the House of Representatives ended 322-87 and thus falls within the two-thirds majority needed to overcome a presidential veto. Along with Democrats, 109 Republicans voted to overturn Trump’s decision and give the defense budget the green light.
In addition to the name change, the outgoing president wants a letter on the abolition of legal protection for social media in the defense budget. The protection, called Section 230, means that companies like Twitter cannot be sued for user posts.
However, the defense budget of $ 740 billion (nearly $ 6.1 trillion) also includes salary increases for the millions of defense personnel in the United States, an issue that has traditionally been close to the hearts of Republicans. The question now goes to the Senate, where it is unclear whether the necessary majority can be assembled to lift the veto. If that happens, the defense budget will be the first of Trump’s nine vetoes over Congress.

Democrats and Republicans in Congress already agreed on December 21 on the package of just over 7.4 billion Swedish crowns. However, Trump waited until Monday to sign the legislation, which threatened to shut down the state apparatus. At one point, he called the support package a shame.
This is mainly because the president felt that the amount of $ 600, which almost all tax-paying Americans should allocate through the package, was too low. Trump demanded at least $ 2,000.
In that matter, he has the support of the Democrats, who rule the House of Representatives and who have long wanted a larger amount, and now they have voted for it.
