Source: Unacceptable EU offer in Brexit negotiations

The negotiations deal with three crucial issues: fisheries, a level playing field and how future trade disputes between the parties will be resolved, the BBC says.

Sunday has been set as the deadline for talks. On Friday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned that the British could prepare for a “hard” Brexit, without a deal. The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, did not have much hope either.

EU Chief Negotiator David Frost and Britain’s Michel Barnier have planned to continue the talks over the weekend, Sky News writes.

Now a British government source says there has yet to be a breakthrough in the negotiations.

– Talks continue overnight, but as the situation stands, the EU offer on the table remains unacceptable, the source told Reuters, continuing:

– The Prime Minister will turn over every stone in this process, but he is absolutely sure: a deal must be fair and respect the basic position that Britain will be an autocratic nation in three weeks.

On Sunday, Boris Johnson is expected to hold talks with Ursula von der Leyen.

The UK has in fact, it has already left the EU, but has remained in the customs union during a transitional period. At the turn of the year, the British will leave the Union entirely, regardless of whether there is an agreement or not.
