Sörenstam temporarily returns to its home track, Lake Nona. He started with a 75 lap after, among other things, a triple bogey. On Friday, he made 71 hits.
The 50-year-old, who wants to feel like competing before the US Senior Open this summer, started the day with ten pairs in a row. Then he made two birdies, a bogey and then another birdie and a bogey. And so we can continue playing this weekend.
– In that case, it’s an advantage. I actually intended to take Ava (daughter) to volleyball on Saturday, but maybe someone else can do it now, Sörenstam tells Aftonbladet.
– If it doesn’t happen, I’m satisfied and happy anyway. It has been two wonderful days. I am also much happier with my game on Friday. The goal was to go below par, I understood that that was what was required, and apart from some guy here or there, it felt stable.
Sörenstam lives by hole 16 of the golf course. She has her husband Mike McGee as a caddy in the competition and is followed by children Ava and William. It was the kids who were behind this making a comeback, because they wanted to see their mother play in a competition.
– But it’s not a comeback, it’s a performance, Sörenstam told the LPGA tour before the competition.
During the first two days played Sörenstam along with Madelene Sagström and Anna Nordqvist. Sagström, who won the competition last year but then on a different course, started well with 77 strokes, five above par. After a triple bogey on his fifth hole on Friday, it looked completely dark. But then he made four birdies and also an eagle on the last hole and landed a total of two over par. Therefore, you may have exceeded the qualification limit. Nordqvist has done two even rounds.
The competition continues.
