Norway has already started detecting coronavirus infection through mobile apps and is in progress in Germany, Austria, Finland and the United Kingdom, among others. The principle is that when someone is infected, those who have been close to the infected person should be warned on their mobile phones.
But in Sweden, the Public Health Authority has decided that this is not relevant.
– All the colleagues I speak with have the same problem with personal integrity and legality. It is very difficult, says Anders Tegnell, who sees legal risks with the technology.
Various other infection monitoring projects in Sweden
Despite the decision of the Public Health Authority, several other infection monitoring projects are ongoing in Sweden.
At KTH, a group of researchers is working on a tracking app, and researchers at Lund University recently teamed up to launch an app to map symptoms across the country.
