Per Follin at Smittskydd Stockholm comments on new local cases of covid-19.

So far 169 cases of covid-19 have been confirmed in Vasastan and Norrmalm.
This is an increase of 32 cases in just over a week.
The spread of the corona virus is now taking place throughout the Stockholm region, says Smittskydd Stockholm.
As of April 14, more than 15,500 people were sampled in Stockholm County, and 4,806 people were confirmed to be carrying the coronavirus. This shows a new report from Infectious Diseases Stockholm.
– But it’s just the tip of an iceberg. We probably have a very large proportion in society that have mild symptoms and do not seek care, and therefore have not been tested., says infectious disease doctor Per Follin, director of infectious diseases in Stockholm.

The numbers do not reflect reality.
Since March 12, only people needing care in the Stockholm region have been assessed. Therefore, the figures relate to the number of confirmed cases and do not reflect the actual number of infected, which is likely to be much higher, but do indicate an actual disease situation in the county, says Per Follin.
– Now we can see that the infection is spreading throughout the Stockholm region, he says.
How many are actually infected in the county?
– Hard to say. And even more difficult is to say how many people have had it and are now immune. Work is underway to develop tests that can show if you have immunity to the virus, but we don’t know exactly when it’s clear.
That would be very valuable, he says.
– Health professionals who are immune could work and don’t even need protective equipment, he says.
