It is the first really big snowfall of the season that this weekend has stopped in the north of Sweden.
SMHI has issued four class 1 snow warnings, all in the inland and coastal areas of Norrbotten and Västerbotten. In connection with the blizzard, it can also be windy in some places, with occasional strong gusts.
– You can compensate with a small impulse formation, says Max Lindberg Stoltz, meteorologist at SMHI.
Most of the snow is expected in the interior of Norrbotten, mainly in the eastern parts, where locally it can be up to three decimeters. Snow storms are also expected in the interior of Västerbotten.
– Snowfall will decrease from the south overnight. But there may still be some isolated snow villages even on Monday in North Norrland, says Max Lindberg Stoltz.
The forecast for the amount of snow along the coast is somewhat uncertain, notes SMHI.
That said, about a decimeter of snow or more is expected on the Norrbotten coast, until Monday night. The same applies to the coastal lands of Västerbotten.
The one who lives In affected snow areas and it is advisable to drive a car, change to winter tires and handle it with care, as there may be a deterioration of visibility in traffic.
Occasionally snowy villages have also stopped in Jämtland, Dalarna and Gävleborg on Sunday, says Max Lindberg Stoltz, but during the day the snowfall will lessen and the weather will improve.
– There will be a calmer climate in the rest of Sweden. Sunny all day, says Max Lindberg Stoltz.
The temperature is over the line most in most of the country. In parts of northern Norrland and in mountainous areas, negative degrees are expected.
– We will see how the temperature behaves. The lowest temperature of the season so far is 9 degrees below zero. It’s not entirely impossible for it to be released today, I suppose, in the Norrbotten Mountains or in the mountains of Northern Lapland, says Max Lindberg Stoltz.
Monday offers a quiet start to the week in terms of sunny weather across the country.
Tuesday begins quite a wet period. The night before Tuesday, an area of rain will move from the southwest, initially over the western parts of Götaland and Svealand. It will run north on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Rain can have snow elements in parts of Värmland, Örebro County, Västmanland and Uppland on Tuesday.
– Possibly there will also be some snowflakes in Stockholm, says Max Lindberg Stoltz.
