After the revelation that the Snapchat messaging app is frequently used by perpetrators who sexually exploit children, the company now chooses to start a collaboration with the police, reports Svenska Dagbladet.
The newspaper’s review has previously shown that in just over six months, there were 36 convictions and 392 police reports of sexual crimes against children through the app.
Police have testified about the difficulties in quickly obtaining basic account information about suspected perpetrators of Snapchat, which is popular with children and young people.
But a month after the review, the platform now chooses to launch into a collaboration that will speed up the process. It already includes players like Facebook, Microsoft and Google.
Police tell Svd that they will “in all likelihood” help them in their job of locating people who commit sexual crimes against children.
