As early as Tuesday night, Destination Gotland announced that the ferries will be canceled. The decision remains on Wednesday morning: two ferries do not leave the port.
The background is the strong wind gusts that have been and will be measured in the Baltic Sea.
Öland is now added to areas with class 1 warnings issued by SMHI.
– There is talk of very strong gusts, 21 meters per second, says Lasse Rydqvist.
“High pressure backing”
The ferry operating Nynäshamn – Visby at 11.25 am will stop, as will the turning line at 4.30 pm.
SMHI’s class 1 advisories extend from Stockholm and along the entire east coast.
– It is related to a low pressure over Poland and a high pressure ridge over Sweden. At the border you get a fairly strong wind band, explains Lasse Rydqvist.
– It’s windier in the morning. Then the wind will gradually die down, quite quickly, first tonight and then tonight.
When it’s windy at sea, the opposite happens on land.
– I have a pretty dry climate to offer. The rain remains in the southeast of the earth. There will be breaks almost across the country both today and tomorrow, says Lasse Rydqvist.
Europe’s climate may soon look very different.
