Over the past week, many parts of Sweden have been able to enjoy fairly warm temperatures. But now comes a setback. Already during the night until Sunday, a cold front will enter the mountains to start.
SMHI has issued a Class 1 snow warning in Dalarna, Gävleborg County, along the entire Norrland coast, inland Norrbotten and in Värmland.
– You should expect snowfall from the northwest of Svealand and beyond Norrland. In some areas, the front will remain for a long time and can then go as far as a decimeter of snow, says Gustav Åström, a metrologist at SMHI.
The rest of the country can see before a rainy Sunday, and even in eastern Svealand there can be snowfall in the rain.
– But there’s so much rain that it’s been wet before it’s probably not something that settles on the ground, says Gustav Åström.
Even then, in much of the country, cooler temperatures can be expected. At night, it can be zero grade, or even negative grade in many places. And the cold seems to last until the end of next weekend.
– Until then, we are in this cooler air.
Spring setbacks mean temperatures are lower than normal at this time of year.
– It will be a couple of colder days. And my assessment is that it will be cold for the season.
