Cold and cloudy, with rain in the south and snow in the north. Christmas Eve doesn’t seem to catch up on the Christmas tree lights, but Christmas Day can be white in East Svealand.

SMHI has issued a class 1 snowfall warning in Uppland County and Roslagskusten in Stockholm County.

– These are class 1 warnings, as the snow villages mainly arrive in the eastern parts of Uppland and along the Roslag coast. It can have two to four inches of fresh snow, says Moa Hallberg, a meteorologist at SMHI.

She urges those who hit the roads to drive carefully.

– There has been no direct snow and you may not be as used to the conditions on this road if you live in East Svealand.

Snowfall comes late at night and on Christmas morning.

– We have a low pressure that moves to the east and in connection with that the wind then turns, and since we have north-northeast winds in the sea, the snow villages start, says Moa Hallberg.

The weather is still cold and clear on Christmas Eve. In the extreme south, mainly in Skåne and on Öland and Gotland, the risk of rain is great and any Christmas walk can be done with the umbrella for company.

Because although the temperature is expected to drop, there will be no white Christmas for the south of the country. This view is reserved for Norrland and North Svealand this year. Even there, clouds and a certain amount of precipitation dominate, with the difference that it is then the snow that falls.
